A few weeks ago your leadership team and many AAGLA members went to San Diego to attend the first National Apartment Association Convention to be held in California, the 2013 NAA Education Conference & Exposition. This is the largest gathering of multifamily housing industry professionals in the Nation! To open the Conference keynote speaker Sir Richard Branson and Real Estate Developer and Reality Star Moderator Bill Rancic brought their A-game to San Diego! Our takeaway message from Branson: If a company is happy, it is invincible.
On a day that brought you a billionaire businessman, a tradeshow that broke all previous records – from attendees to exhibitors –and an opening party that shut down two full blocks of the historic Gaslamp Quarter to the public, San Diego was definitely the place to be for innovation, inspiration and connections. I wish you all would have been there to see what a great industry we belong to. There were great educational programs every day all day, during the Conference with subject matter that would enhance your ability to manage your business in every way.
Maintenance technicians, professionals who are often overlooked yet integral to the multifamily housing industry, were the stars of the evening as NAA convened the 2013 Maintenance Mania National Championship. AAGLA will be bringing you our local version of Maintenance Mania again next year.
On Friday I, along with AAGLA Vice President Ron Bowdoin and AAGLA CEO Jim Clarke, attended the National Apartment Association’s leadership training course for future leaders. This course not only taught us how to better enhance AAGLA but it also taught us how to be more involved in our National Association.
But the show had to come to a close. This year’s conference will certainly go down as one of the very best in National Apartment Association history and our members played a big part in it.
Wherever we went, attendees praised how great the event was and how friendly, helpful, courteous, and informed the volunteers were. I hope you will consider attending next year’s 2014 Education Conference & Exposition in Denver, June 19-21. AAGLA will be sending you information in the Apartment Magazine and by email throughout the coming year.
We look forward to seeing you there.
